Terms of Service
Published 2026-09-14 · Effective 2026-09-24 · Version 1.1
This launch edition applies to use of the publicly released service. It does not apply retroactively to pre-launch testing or replace permission for earlier data transmissions.
Facet (the "app") is made and operated by EchoKindness (따뜻함의발견, represented by Chansoo Kim; "we"). By installing and using the app you agree to these terms. Privacy matters are covered separately in the Privacy Policy.
1. What the app does
Every day the app makes a few questions for you and gathers the answers you write into a single map. As answers accumulate, it produces reports and weekly recaps. Questions, keywords, reports, and recaps are generated by AI that reads your earlier answers.
- AI-generated questions and text can be wrong or awkward. They are not something to take at face value or to follow.
- The app is not medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. If you need that kind of help, please see a professional.
- You can pass on a question you don't like with "Give me another question," and turn off questions on a topic from the map.
2. Who can use it
Anyone aged 14 or over. There is no separate Facet sign-up. Records are saved on your device and synced across iPhones and iPads using the same Apple account when iCloud is available.
3. Subscription and individual deck purchases
An active subscription is required to generate new personalized daily questions, classify keywords, and create reports and weekly recaps. The free trial is part of the subscription. Free decks and separately purchased decks include their own questions and completion results without a subscription. Without a subscription, you can also complete onboarding, view your map, answer and save questions already received, read existing reports, and export or restore your records.
The Defense Patterns and Taste decks are free. Career, Money, Relationships, and Letting Go are separate one-time, non-consumable purchases. A Core subscription does not include the paid decks. Subscriptions and deck purchases are independent. The same purchase covers Korean and English.
Monthly and annual Core plans renew automatically; deck purchases do not. Check the actual price, period, and free-trial eligibility in the app and Apple's purchase sheet before purchase. To avoid a charge after a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Price-change notices and any requirement for consent follow Apple's policies and the storefront's rules. You can restore purchases using the same Apple account, but restoring a purchase does not restore question or answer records.
If a refund or revocation removes deck access, new generation for that deck is restricted. Answers and reports already saved on the device remain readable.
Payments are made through the App Store using your Apple account. We do not receive your payment method or Apple account login credentials. We verify purchase status and access through Apple and RevenueCat.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Renewal is charged within the 24 hours before expiry. Cancel through iOS Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions or ‘Manage subscription’ in the app. Paid access continues until the end of the paid period.
Subscription and deck payments and refunds follow Apple's policies and applicable law. Request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund Apple purchases directly. After changing devices or reinstalling, sign in with the same Apple account and choose ‘Restore purchases’ in Settings or on the subscription screen.
4. Access and usage limits
Generation is restricted when you do not have the subscription, free-deck access, or purchased-deck access required for the feature. Subscription usage has daily and monthly limits. Decks used without a subscription have separate daily and monthly generation limits per device and deck. While a subscription is active, deck generation shares its usage allowance. Access and usage counts are shared across app languages. Reaching a limit temporarily restricts generation, and the app provides retry information. Reading saved records and reports is unaffected. We reject forged or bypass requests that cannot be verified as coming from the app and may restrict repeated attempts.
5. Outages and changes
- If the AI service or the subscription verification service has an outage, question generation may pause. The app continues with questions already received and resumes automatically once service is restored.
- Features may be added or changed without notice. If core features available during a subscription (question generation, map, reports, recaps) are reduced, we'll let you know in advance.
- If we have to shut the service down, we'll announce it in the app and on this site 30 days in advance and explain how to export your records. Any remaining subscription period is handled under Apple's policies.
6. What's yours and what's ours
- The answers you write are yours. Answers are processed as needed to provide the service. With your AI-sharing permission, necessary content is sent to OpenAI for generation, and records may sync through Apple CloudKit. Processing and retention are described in the Privacy Policy.
- The questions, keywords, reports, and recaps the app makes for you are yours to use freely within the app and in your exported files.
- The app's design, code, the methods used to make questions, and its name and logo are ours. Please don't copy the app or take it apart to build another service.
7. Records and backups
Records are saved on your device and, when iCloud is available, synced through your Apple account’s private CloudKit database. Connectivity, storage and system conditions can delay syncing. Deleting the app does not erase cloud records or copies on other devices, exported files or device backups. Sync does not replace a separate point-in-time backup: use ‘Export records’ in Settings and keep the file safe. We do not receive that file. Backup import is available only when the app has no existing records; imported records may also sync. See section 7 of the Privacy Policy for deletion and backup management.
8. Limits of liability
- We build and run the app in good faith, but we can't promise it will always work without error or produce any particular result.
- How you take AI-generated questions and text, and what you do with them, is your judgment. We aren't responsible for the consequences.
- To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the total subscription fees and deck purchase amounts you paid for the app in the 12 months before the issue arose. This limit does not apply in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence and does not affect consumer rights or liabilities that cannot be limited under applicable law.
9. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we post the new version on this page and update the effective date. Changes that are unfavorable to you or otherwise significant are announced on this page and in the app at least 7 days before they take effect. We follow any longer notice period or separate consent requirement imposed by applicable law. Continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you don't, you can cancel your subscription and stop using the app.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises, let's try to resolve it by email first; failing that, it goes to the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
