Terms of Service
Effective 2026-09-07 · Version 1.0
Facet (the "app") is made and operated by EchoKindness (따뜻함의발견, represented by Chansoo Kim; "we"). By installing and using the app you agree to these terms. Privacy matters are covered separately in the Privacy Policy.
1. What the app does
Every day the app makes a few questions for you and gathers the answers you write into a single map. As answers accumulate, it produces reports and weekly recaps. Questions, keywords, reports, and recaps are generated by AI that reads your earlier answers.
- AI-generated questions and text can be wrong or awkward. They are not something to take at face value or to follow.
- The app is not medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. If you need that kind of help, please see a professional.
- You can pass on a question you don't like with "Give me another question," and turn off questions on a topic from the map.
2. Who can use it
Anyone aged 14 or over. There is no account. The app works per iOS device, and your records stay on that device.
3. Subscription
Generating questions, keywords, reports, and recaps is available only during a subscription. The free trial is part of the subscription. Without one you can still complete onboarding, view the map, answer and save questions you've already received, and export or restore your records.
Plans and price
There are two plans, monthly and annual, both auto-renewing. Prices are shown on the subscription screen in the app and on the App Store. Payment is made through the App Store with your Apple ID; we never receive payment details.
Free trial
- Your first subscription comes with a 1-month free trial. Trial eligibility is once per Apple ID and is determined by Apple. If you're not eligible, the app removes the free-trial wording.
- When the trial ends, the price of the plan you chose is charged automatically, and the subscription renews from then on. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
- Starting the trial also goes through Apple's payment sheet, which shows the price, period, and conversion date once more.
Renewal and cancellation
- The subscription renews for the same period at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. The renewal charge is billed to your Apple ID within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel in iOS Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. "Manage subscription" in the app's Settings takes you there. After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the paid period.
- If the price changes, Apple notifies you in advance. If you don't agree to the new price, the subscription doesn't renew.
Refunds
Payments and refunds follow Apple's policies. Request refunds from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't refund Apple purchases directly.
Restoring
If you change devices or reinstall the app, sign in with the same Apple ID and tap "Restore purchases" in Settings or on the subscription screen.
4. When use may be limited
In normal use you won't run into limits. In the following cases, though, we may pause or block question generation.
- No active subscription or trial: generation stays closed, and the app points you to the subscription.
- Abnormally high volume: each subscription has a cap on how much can be generated per day and per month. The cap is set well above what a person writing by hand would reach; if you hit it, the app tells you when it reopens. Automation tools or sharing one subscription across many devices may hit this cap.
- Modified apps or requests that bypass our server: requests we can't verify as coming from our app are refused. Repeated attempts may result in that device being blocked.
Answering and saving questions you've already received, and viewing your map and records, continue regardless of any limit.
5. Outages and changes
- If the AI service or the subscription verification service has an outage, question generation may pause. The app continues with questions already received and resumes automatically once service is restored.
- Features may be added or changed without notice. If core features available during a subscription (question generation, map, reports, recaps) are reduced, we'll let you know in advance.
- If we have to shut the service down, we'll announce it in the app and on this site 30 days in advance and explain how to export your records. Any remaining subscription period is handled under Apple's policies.
6. What's yours and what's ours
- The answers you write are yours. We don't keep them on our servers and don't use them for anything.
- The questions, keywords, reports, and recaps the app makes for you are yours to use freely within the app and in your exported files.
- The app's design, code, the methods used to make questions, and its name and logo are ours. Please don't copy the app or take it apart to build another service.
7. Records and backups
Your records exist only on your device. If you lose, reset, or wipe the device, or delete the app, the records go with it. We recommend creating a backup file with "Export records" in Settings and keeping it somewhere safe. Storing and restoring the backup file is your responsibility; we never receive it.
8. Limits of liability
- We build and run the app in good faith, but we can't promise it will always work without error or produce any particular result.
- How you take AI-generated questions and text, and what you do with them, is your judgment. We aren't responsible for the consequences.
- To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the subscription fees you paid for the app in the 12 months before the issue arose. This limit does not apply in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence.
9. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we post the new version on this page and update the effective date. Changes that are unfavorable to you or otherwise significant are announced on this page and in the app at least 7 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you don't, you can cancel your subscription and stop using the app.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises, let's try to resolve it by email first; failing that, it goes to the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
